Constantin Louis Detouche was was born in Paris on 10th October 1810. He was a very fine watch and clockmaker who had close ties with both Jacques Francois Houdin and Houdin’s son-in-law the great Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin. Detouche is first listed as working in Rue de Venise, Paris, in 1820 then in 1825 he moved to Rue Saint-Martin where it appears he stayed until 1890. Reference: Christie’s.

Lalique Clocks. The Lalique company was founded by René Lalique in 1888. The company is mainly renown for art glass such as perfume bottles, however, they also produced the casings for clock movements. Below are some examples and price guides of Lalique clocks.

René Lalique (1860-1945) began his career as a jewellery apprentice at the age of 16, and by 1881 he was a freelance designer for many of the best-known Parisian jewellers. In 1885, he opened his own workshop on Place Gaillon in Paris, the former workshop of Jules Destape. In 1887, Lalique opened a business on Rue du Quatre-Septembre, and registered the “RL” mark the following year. In 1890, he opened a shop in the Opera District of Paris. Within a decade, Lalique was amongst the best-known Parisian jewellers. Reference: Wikipedia
