George Prior is recorded as working at 31 Prescot Street, Goodmans Fields (1765-1788), Rosomans Row (1794), Lombard Street (1798-1810) and 5 St. George Yard (1808-1812). He is a particularly known for his high quality musical clocks made for export to Turkey and is known to have purchased movements from Thwaites & Reed and also Spencer & Perkins. Martin Cheney began his business in Vermont but moved to Montreal about 1809 and spent the rest of his life in Canada where he operated a shop in Montreal from 1809 to 1830. He made both movements and cases, wall and tall case clocks and banjo clocks. He was the son of Benjamin Cheney, who trained him and brothers, Ashel, Elisha, and Russell, in the manufacture of both wooden and brass clockmaking. Martin was born in 1778 in E. Japy Freres (Japy Brothers) were French clock makers founded by Frédéric Japy in 1777  where he renewed and mechanized the traditional process of establishment practiced in the Jura by the watchmaking profession. From the watch movement, Japy went onto the pendulum and diversified into tools, engines, bicycle parts, lighting, garden furniture, pumps 1 , coffee grinders, typewriters , etc. The 1880s marked the golden age of Japy. Nearly 5,000 workers worked in the Japy factories in the region. The family had thirteen castles built on Beaucourt and Dasle, four have disappeared. Reference: Wikipedia

Nicholas Vallin. The son of the Flemish clockmaker John Vallin (ca. 1535–1603), Nicolas became the leading clock- and watchmaker in London. Both John and Nicolas emigrated to England, probably shortly before 1590 and undoubtedly as the result of political troubles in The Netherlands. Lalique Clocks. The Lalique company was founded by René Lalique in 1888. The company is mainly renown for art glass such as perfume bottles, however, they also produced the casings for clock movements. Below are some examples and price guides of Lalique clocks.

René Lalique (1860-1945) began his career as a jewellery apprentice at the age of 16, and by 1881 he was a freelance designer for many of the best-known Parisian jewellers. In 1885, he opened his own workshop on Place Gaillon in Paris, the former workshop of Jules Destape. In 1887, Lalique opened a business on Rue du Quatre-Septembre, and registered the “RL” mark the following year. In 1890, he opened a shop in the Opera District of Paris. Within a decade, Lalique was amongst the best-known Parisian jewellers. Reference: Wikipedia
