Antique Hammond Clocks For Sale

Hammond Clock Company of Chicago, Illinois was founded in 1928 by Laurens Hammond, also the inventor of the Hammond Organ.  The Hammond Clock Company produced electric clocks from 1928 to 1941 when the company was realigned and renamed to The Hammond Instrument Company.  This new company focused on production of the Hammond Organ and clock production was discontinued.

In 1928, Hammond invented a clock motor that was synchronous to the frequency of the current supplied by the power grid.  This ensured a very accurate electric clock for its day.  Hammond electric clocks are not self-starting, so if there was a power outage, and there were many in those days, the clock motor would have to be restarted using a small knob in the back.  There were other electric clocks being produced during this time, however the Hammond electric clocks all had this characteristic little knob on the back to restart the motor after a power outage.

Hammond Clock Company made over 100 different models of clocks ranging from blue collar affordable to exclusive expensive using many different materials.
